1. Lollia- Inspire
While it is an undeniably substantial fragrance, Inspire manages to remain young and vibrant. The '1000 flowers' uncannily remind me of my favorite babysitter Tina circa 1994. While that's most likely the keystone reason why Lollia prevailed to the bunny favorite list, the delicate rose water, red apple and bergamot, warm jasmine, dewy plum and cedarwood, shea butter, and oils of brazil nut and macadamia may have had something to do with it, too.
2. i Profumi di Firenze- Acqua di Firenze
I imagine this is what Ryan McGinley's naked kids smell like whilst biking through meadows. Super fresh, über dewy, and beyond green (not just the bottle) - Acqua di Firenze is the very same signature blend favored by Florentine nobility during the 1500's. However take heed: the notes of honeysuckle and purple iris of Florence tend to be either loved or hated. It's hard to be vanilla to this historical relic.
3. Costume National- Gloss
Sexy sexy sexy! But not heavy heavy heavy! While this may sound devilishly simple, it's quite a rare feat in the scentworld. This sensual blend of rose, orchid, and fresh musks is available exclusively at Barneys.
4. Annick Goutal- Petite Chérie
Simultaneously fruity, floral, and musky, Petite Chérie is simply delicious. The sweet, gourmet notes of peach, pear, and vanilla perfectly compliment the rose musk and freshly cut grass. By far the most youthful fragrance of the flock, there's no way anyone over 25 could pull off this "Little Darling" - 'twas, afterall, especially created for Annick's daughter Camille as a pre-teenager.
5. Annick Goutal- Eau de Camille
When Camille requested a perfume that smelled "as nice as her garden", Annick formulated this concurrently tender and peppery aroma featuring ivy, privet, honeysuckle, and seringa. It's entirely tenable that 'Camille' came out in my top faves solely on the grounds that I can't help but recall JCC Camp forest fort-building every time I catch a whiff.
6. Philosophy- Pure Grace
I keep this little half-ounce number in my purse 24/7; not that I'm dirty or anything, but Pure Grace never fails to beget that just-out-of-the-shower feeling. Frankly, it smells like soap and water... in a good way. Bunny's honor: this is the purest, cleanest scent under the sun.
7. Le Prince Jardinier- Bouton de Rose
Simply put, this smells exactly like an English rose garden. The precision to which the top note of peony, heart note of rose, and base note of amber are combined is utterly remarkable - you'd swear you were in the Queen's meticulously manicured gardens!
8. Chanel- Une Fleur de Chanel
Inspired by Coco's signature flower (the camellia, of course!), Une Fleur de Chanel was originally released in 1998 to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show. Don't even ask me how I remember this; nevertheless I can tell you that it features lovely jasmine and green notes. Exceptionally light and acutely crisp, it can easily be worn on the daily. Slightly reminiscent of Chanel's Gardenia, bar it's considerably tamer and much easier to carry.
9. Diptyque- L'eau
L'eau Diptyque is a warm fragrance composed of cinnamon, geranium, sandalwood, roses, and clove that I am unfailingly drawn to throughout the cold months (which seems to be about two-thirds of the year around here). N.B.: upon spritzing, you may smell like you just finished a heavenly massage at the spa. This hippy scent was originally introduced in 1968 and is based on a 16th century potpourri recipe - so it goes without saying that it's hardly a "going-out" fragrance. But to render that cozy feeling while watching Law & Order marathons or baking (vegan) cookies? Yummy is right!
10. Bond No. 9- Chelsea Flowers
Named after NYC's fresh food and flower capital, Chelsea Flowers commemorates the district more fittingly than Chanel's Une Fleur de Chanel. Nevertheless, I rarely recall the Chelsea District when I take a sniff. Instead, the cheerful bouquet of tulips, peonies, hyacinth, magnolia, and rose - surrounded by a stunning musk, sandalwood, vetiver, and tree moss undertone - never fails to remind me of my mom's gallery and the freshly-cut flowers gathered throughout her store. Plus (and on a waaaay less sentimental notion) she carries the Bond No. 9 line and Chelsea Flowers is patently the most tested fragrance of the collection. So that's probably why it perpetually smells like tulips and magnolias there...
11. Hermès- Un Jardin Sur le Nil
Green green green, androgyny! This unisex fragrance can literally be carried by everyone and their Aunt Bunny. Light, lively, generous, and sparkling, it unfailingly brings out the best in its wearer. Un Jardin Sur le Nil recalls the Nile River (or so I would presume); but I can merely attest to the verity that it smells super sunny and blissfully blithe.
12. Philosophy- Philosophy the Fragrance
I kid you not: this perfume could replace Lexapro. It is frankly the ultimate mood picker-upper! Sunshine in a bottle right here. So fresh, so clean! That's about all you need to know.
13. Kilian- Liaisons Dangereuse
My bunny boyfriend LOVES this perfume. He handpicked it at Bergdorf's and always compliments me when I wear it. I know, I know... as a feminist this is not in total keeping with my normal modus operandi, but seriously ladies: this will make 'em melt. Rich and complex, Liasons Dangereuse highlights an exquisite plum from Damascus. At its heart, the floral breath of geranium is warmed by cinnamon from Ceylon. Sandalwood provides structure to the composition, which reaches a pronounced fruition with a bouquet of sensuous musk notes.
14. Comme des Garçons- White
This is my hands-down favorite "at home / on the DL" fragrance. And since I've been back home quite a bit recently, CdG's White is hereby my winner. Well, for today at least. Anywho it's the yummiest marriage of lovely white flowers (namely lily of the valley and may rose) and spices (including nutmeg, cinnamon leaf and clove - from the original CdG Eau de Parfum) that yields a delicious year-round aroma for the whole universe! A.k.a. men and women... and I reckon anyone like the boys!
