MEN IN SKIRTS! Rei Picks up Where Miuccia Left Off: Comme des Garçons Homme Plus S/S 2009

Amish hats! Haori pants! Hakamas! Inside-out jackets! Pants under shorts under skirts! OMG!!

Today Rei Kawakubo presented the most buzzed-about collection thus far during Paris Men's Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2009. Truly a pièce de résistance, Rei proffered a virtually victorian opus heavily inspired by Japanese tradition with a certain Scottish flair (namely incarnated as skirts)! 

An exquisite palette, wicked proportions, sophisticated styling and layering madder than a (Colonial) hatter were set off by an absolutely genius casting. The models' doleful dispositions perfectly suited the esoteric -- practically cryptic -- summer 2009 CdG collection.

Yet when all the moody elegance emerged together it yielded a rather lighthearted, candidly comical aura. Scintillating!

Les Prairies de Paris' New Boutique "Blows Up"

For cult Parisian brand Les Prairies de Paris' new art gallery-cum-boutique, designer Laetitia Ivanez has opted to showcase mod life-size shots from Michelangelo Antonioni's 1966 masterpiece "Blow-Up" as the opening exhibit. 

Ivanez's 12-year-old woman's wear label is practically lionized by the fashion elite for its delicate and ladylike aesthetic. The nouveau magasin will be the first to feature Les Prairies de Paris' new mini men's and children's collections displayed in the kookiest French mien that her devout fans have come to know and love. 

Quirky trademarks include a pair of vintage headphones dangling outside the store's façade -- as a means for potential customers to hear the shop's playlist -- and elephantine cartoons disseminating onto the walls.

Jean Touitou (founder of A.P.C.) Has His Priorities Straight

Jean Touitou, founder of the fundamentally French, minimalist chic line A.P.C. has just opened his third Parisian boutique in the 10th arrondissement at 5 Rue de Marseille. 

His freshest A.P.C. outpost may be stationed in Paris' trendiest up-and-coming quarter, but the unostentatious "teddy bear of fashion" insists that the true allure was of a much more ambrosial credo. 

"The street has a great baker," he eagerly chimed. "And I liked the name of the street. And I like the number five."

Touitou has a few more (designer) buns in the oven still not-quite-primed to debut:

• To efficiently deal with oversupplies, this July he will be introducing a new Paris surplus store in Montmartre.
• The designer will launch a signature savory scent line later this year.
• Come August, Touitou is set to open a vintage Scandinavian furniture emporium in Copenhagen.
• Touitou and his band will perform at the July grand opening of his second store in Tokyo.

Kate Set to Hop to Couture Week with Your Bunny!

Kate Moss will be hopping to Couture Week with your bunny (ehm, moi)!

Don't expect a magical hologram feat à la Fall 2006 Alexander McQueen. 

Jamie Hince's better half will not be gracing the runways, nor is she expected in the front row for that matter.

As the current face of Longchamp, Kate is set to make a cameo at their 60th anniversary soirée. Jamie -- along with fellow The Kills' chantreuse Alison Mosshart -- will be performing at the Longchamp bash on July 2 at the Elysée Montmartre.
