Last night Mr. Mickey and I event-hopped for Paper to cover the Vogue/IMG Model.Live event at Gemma in the Bowery Hotel, the Hermès/Josef Albers exhibit fêting their scarf collaboration at the Madison Avenue flagship, and the Cole Haan/Paper party downtown at The Box with an outrageous performance by The Citizens' Band toasting to Cole Haan's 80th Anniversary and reintroduction of their signature penny loafers featuring Bing Bang's Anna Sheffield iconic "penny" jewelry.
Just before the mayhem that is NYC fashion week, my dear friend (and fellow raw vegan) Simona McIntyre celebrated her 19th birthday with an intimate dinner of close friends at the crème de la crème (well, you know) of haute raw food dining, Pure Food & Wine.

On the docket for today? Why my first day of school!
Then I'll be zipping uptown to the office to meet Mickey and then off to:
Barneys for the launch of Andre 3000's Benjamin Bixby, the Erin Wasson X RVCA event downtown, Sue Stemp's Spring 2009 presentation, the Christie's party with Chloë Sevigny & Agyness Deyn, the FIT Opening, Christie's dinner at Indochine, and finally Chiara Clemente's birthday party at the Beatrice.
... then back to my cat where I belong!

PS: The industry is absolutely smitten with Simona's mature "new look" accentuated by her blonder, shorter new 'do! Check out these radiant, ethereal, positively angelic new polaroids snapped by Kwok to be sent over to Europe:
... breathtaking, right?
Erin and Chloe and Aggy, oh my! I hope you have a fantastic time!

Did you mention Christie's? :D I love Christie's auctions! But I didn't hear about the party in NY. :( I found this: http://www.wireimage.com/ItemListings.aspx?igi=332049&nbc1=1
Fast uploading, huh? ;D
Your party-hopping for the day sounds really fun/exhausting :b I hope someday you'll be able to have sort of a casual interview with Siri! I just love her!!!!
"Ethereal" popped into my mind as soon as I saw Simona's pics. <3 Her hair! Her eyes!

I totally saw you coming out of the BCBG show this morning and wanted to say hi...but felt creepy about it. But I guess writing this right now is kind of creepy. haha. I'm sure I'll see you around the tents this week, maybe I'll even get the courage to say hi :)

I love your blogs julia, but pleazzeee tell me how being a vegan like lovely simona and you and wearing leather (marnie, your chanel ballettflats etc..can be compatible?
(not being cynic just curious..)

*REPLY:
Hey Marnie!
As a vegan (and raw foodist), I do not purchase any animal-containing products: be it beauty, fashion, or apparel. Any of my accessories that I do own that contain leather, though few and far between, were either a) procured before I went completely vegan in early 2006 (as is the case of the Chanel ballerinas purchased circa Sept. 2004); b) a non-refundable gift that I was unable to (on the super D.L.) "regift"; c) contain vintage or eco reclaimed leather (whereby I do not create a demand for the animal products, merely do a service by not wasting -- an admittedly cruel -- product that has already come to fruition). That being said, I only have approximately two old pairs of shoes (neither case 'b' or 'c' applies to me directly, they are merely hypotheticals that I would potentially embrace or can foresee perhaps encountering in the future). The other pair are vintage Chloés from Phoebe Philo's groundbreaking third collection that I'd be quite hardpressed to part with, as it would be considered superfluously wasting something that I acquired before my full realization of the brutal inhumanity of factory farms and other keystone vegan verities. Hope this helps!
Kindest regards,
Jules
