Sir John Galliano is jetting to the U-S-of-A to collect the André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award during Savannah College of Art and Design's yearly fashion extravaganza. To prepare the students for what's to come, Monsieur Galliano arranged a photographic exhibition of himself (who else?) with his fanciful chef-d'oeuvres snapped by the likes of Steven Meisel, Ellen von Unwerth, Paolo Roversi, Nick Knight, Peter Lindbergh, Jean-Baptiste Mondino, and Zanna.
In perhaps more pressing news, Galliano will be debuting his Christian Dior cruise collection at Gustavino's tonight in Manhattan before trekking south to Georgia.
The haute-master has been only amorous of American culture, revealing to Women's Wear Daily:
"America is so full of ideas and inspiration that every time I come I discover something new or have some incredible adventure. [The country] constantly inspires me with its attitude as much as all its artifacts and many states — you could spend a lifetime exploring it all! I am really looking forward to seeing the college, meeting the students as much as trying to get a glimpse of the town; I decided to do an exhibition that would give a taste of my world, give them a taste of what they could be getting themselves into.
For the season that is in store now, it was initially inspired by the luxury, optimism and the American dream from 'Madame X' at couture and then the Sixties and that high-octane luxe for ready-to-wear... America has been a very rich source of inspiration for me this season."

TANT PIS! Yeah, your bunny couldn't fathom Galliano in Georgia either. In what will no doubt be a mayjah amère déception for the Savannah College of Art and Design students, the Diorlord will no longer be gracing them with his presence.
The sudden rescheduling was announced just hours ago during a press luncheon at SCAD president Paula Wallace’s home. No word as to who will be accepting the André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award in his honor. Saperlipopette!
The excuse? "He's under the weather."
... in the words of Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers: "REALLY!?!"
